Overview

how replace bath tub faucet : Overview
Replacing a bathtub faucet is as simple as unscrewing the old and screwing on the new. You can also remodel your bathroom and change out the faucet for a new look. When purchasing a replacement, always be sure to match the nipple size of the OD (outer diameter) to the faucet to ensure a correct fitting. This article will explain how to replace a bath tub faucet.

Step 1

Use your grip wrench and unscrew the faucet by turning it counterclockwise. If your faucet is a slip-on type, you need to loosen the hex screw on the underside of the faucet. The faucet will then slide off.

Step 2

Wrap pipe tape around the nipple pipe threads sticking out of the wall. Wrap the tape two to three times around to make sure that all threads are covered. For slip-on faucets, skip this step.

Step 3

Screw by hand the new faucet onto the nipple pipe. Once full tightening is achieved by hand, screw the rest of the way in with the grip wrench. For slip-on faucets, slide the new faucet onto the pipe and tighten the hex screw on the underside of the faucet.

Step 4

Inspect the installation to ensure that the faucet is parallel to the bathtub. If it is crooked, you can unscrew it to the point of straightness.

Step 5

Turn on the water. Make sure there are no leaks.
