Overview
Wiring your own outdoor lights is a project that will beautify your home's exterior. Following the proper wiring steps will ensure a successful installation of your lights. Be sure to follow all precautions before starting the work on your electrical system.
Step 1
Turn off the main electricity to the home.
Step 2
Strip back 1/2 inch of insulation, using your wire strippers, from the white and black wires coming out from the conduit box where your lights will be installed.
Step 3
Twist together the white wire from the light with the white wire from the conduit box. Cap both ends using your plastic caps. Twist together the black wire from the light with the black wire from the conduit box and cap with plastic caps.
Step 4
Twist together the bared copper wire from the conduit box with the metal bare wire from the light. Cap this wire.
Step 5
Once you have finished mounting the wire with your screwdrivers, turn the electricity back on. Test your installation to make sure it works.
